May 28, 2006 I was talking to V and Kev last weekend about our shared love of Sesame Street. They were talking about this new video which reminded me of Cookie Monster's Run DMC era "Healthy Food" rap. Awright, speaking of hip hop parodies, have you seen Jamie Kennedy's Blowin Up? Cos it is funny. And most importantly, they had Bob Saget on, droppin' mad rhymes...You can download the song for $ here...or watch the video of the making of the song for free here. Desmond Dekker died on Friday. Oh, I forgot to list the random c-list celebrities that I saw at BEA...Dr. Ruth, George Ross from the Apprentice, Meg Tilly signing her new book Gemma, Famous Amos (I had one of his cookies and it was terrific), Cliff from Cheers and Maya Angelou...an actual writer at a book fair? Oh my! May 22, 2006 I had (yet another) birthday. Jim threw a brunch. Photos were taken of course. May 15, 2006 Ah! The cuteness is killing me. Friday night Jim & I sat on the couch, watched Capote and ate Mike & Ikes. The movie was great, definitely worth watching. And it made me wanna re-read In Cold Blood. Saturday night we got DRRRRRRUNK. Really, wasted... Seriously plastered. I'm running out of enebriated synonyms, but you get the picture. We met up with Anne, who was here for exactly one day before she left for London. And we all drank our faces off. I fear we may not be able to go back to that Brooklyn Ale House after our behavior there. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure we can't. There was nipple baring. I have a picture of Seth's penis. I think that pretty much sums up the evening.
May 11, 2006 Guess what? Brooklyn's getting a book fair in September, yay! Yeah, I am such a totally geeky dork that I wore this shirt to work today...Front...Back...No comments necessary. Ok, on to things that people I know are doing...some of my favorite things! At the Garment District in Boston, they were "puttin' on the thrift" and here comes the pull quote from the Boston Globe... Ah, Liz, go easier on those guys, its also mememorial day weekend and I am sure they were busy putting jaunty military outfits together in the back. Anyhooo, my brother Kevin is working on a pilot with Richard Belzer, of Law & Order fame. Here you see them take some time to shoot the shit and put their arms around each other. BELZ WE LOVE YOU!
Ok, so friends of ours are producing pod casts now. I'm feeling a bit antiquated still running the blog 1.0 over here, I gotta get with the times. So you can listen to Jenna + friends on Live From the WB, and you can listen to Don Wood's pod casts at www.donwood.blogspot.com I think Jenna & crew talk about local flavor (and through listening to it, I totally learned that there was a Korean Barbeque place in the hood that I was not aware of. Score!) I think Don talks about tools and things you do with tools. That's all I got. I took too much ambien. May 10, 2006 Greenpoint was burning last week. It was one of the biggest fires in recent NYC history - 10 alarms. The fire was like...I don't know 4 blocks from my house? So I followed it closely all day on my computer, along with getting updates from coworkers like "Its spreading!" and "They think the air might be toxic! What about your cats!?" And what was making me crazy (aside from my assumption that real estate developers were responsible) was the fact that they kept referring to the warehouse buildings as "deserted", when we all know there were people working there, a furniture making shop and the Autumn Bowl....Which now may move to...East New York? (Shudder.) Today I read it could have been worse if there had not been an "rare easterly wind." I have yet to go down and check the site out. I think I'm gonna stop by and pay my respects this weekend. Lisa & Chase launched the site for their new greeting card line this week...Ghastly Greetings...go there now! What is John McCain doing speaking at the New School commencement?! Jim's parents got me a map of the world. I'm totally into it. Next I want this map. Vinyl undergroud in Greenpoint. Lewis the cat escapes death; takes prozac. At the Met, through September. May 7, 2006 We went to see Captured! By Robots at Northsix last night. I thought it was entertaining but the general consesus seemed to be a thumbs down. I think my expectations were very low going in, so I found a guy in a yarmulke and scary face mask doing a Billy Idol cover with a bunch of puppet-robots to be a good thing.
Topics discussed over the course of the evening included circle jerks (boys masterbating, not the band), the ever popular micro-penis, elephant vaginas and whether or not Laree Love should get "PURE LOVE" tattooed on his knuckles. What is average penis size anyway? We also found that everyone besides myself and Jim hate the Brooklyn Ale House...With a vengence.
